A review when it comes to used car donation

So a while ago, after a lot of doing my homework and reading, I finally decided to donate my ‘94 Dodge Ram to charity. residing in the greater Toronto area, it soon became apparent that I had a great host of possibilities in terms of charities which rely on contributors who donate used cars. Now being the owner of a run down car, I was not immediately sure of the best way to dispose of it. I started by considering the usual routine. This consisted of looking in to the possibility of selling the car on my own, going with a trade-in, or if all else fails, taking it to a scrap yard. None of these possibilities really stood out at me for several reasons. I wanted a more attractive alternative.

Both selling the auto myself as well as the alternative of trading it in didn’t excite me, as both were so expensive and time consuming. Also, it came across my mind that throwing out usable car parts was not the best strategy. My good friend had a few poor previous encounters when it came to listing a used car, so I wanted something different.

I had heard from a girlfriend that more and more people were giving tired cars as opposed to the traditional ways of ridding a vehicle, so I decided to head across town to understand how a vehicle auction worked. Habitats for Humanity was the leader of the event and it caught me off guard to chat with somebody else in my position who strongly spoke well of the pluses that come to folks who donate used cars. I believed that this was a good strategy, but I told myself that if I was going to help a worthy cause, it would be one to which I felt a particular connection.

Now at this point to tell you the charity that I went with might not be the most prudent thing to do. Instead, it would be better for people who wish to give used cars to learn from my experiences of the process involved in choosing a charity.

The most important piece of advice I can bestow to anyone thinking of giving their car is to begin by doing as much research as possible. Firstly, consider what is the best choice for your car and if giving your car outweighs the alternatives. The next step is to think about a worthy cause which means a lot to you and your family. By doing your digging, you can save a lot of time and avoid problems by having the knowledge to find the ideal place for used car donation. Know that in many situations, a donor of a vehicle often times can be given a taxation claim, so pay special attention to this as it is a extremely specific course of action to rightly make a deduction. If you take anything from me at all, it should be to telephone the charity you decided to go with and ask as many questions as possible in order to get to know the process. Should you opt to donate to a smaller organization, make sure they are both reputable and registered. As I have come to find out, with enough research, donating your vehicle to charity is a piece of cake and a rewarding action that I would recommend to anybody with an old car looking to pitch it and do a good deed at the same instance.
